"The mind is everything. What you think, you become" - Buddha

Mind power is one of the strongest and most
important power we possess. It comprises of thoughts, attention, and mental
images. Our mind is the key to what we seek and wish to possess in life. It is
said that all things are created twice - first in the mind followed by the
actual physical creation. Your achievements in life are the result of the
thought process that happened in your mind which later converted into reality. According
to the research, about 60,000 thoughts on an average cross our mind daily. We
either let go of these thoughts instantly or do not even realise that such
thoughts have ever visited our mind. It is your thought that creates your
reality. We are
very curious to learn about anything in the Universe in depth. It is quite surprising
that we know the least about our own mind, the actual influencer and game
changer of our life. Humans have learnt to overcome any adverse situations and
disabilities by his will power. We only need to recognise and work on the
infinite potential of our mind. Mindfulness
is the ability to be aware of the present moment and to be completely engaged
in the same. When we train ourselves to be mindful, our happiness, patience, and
compassion level improves. Anxiety, sadness, stress, frustration reduces which
eventually helps us to excel and create an impact. Rudolph Tanzi, Professor of Neurology at Harvard University, and a renowned
researcher on 'aging factor', suggested five steps to help keep our mind agile,
active, and young. a) Exercise more. A healthy body is the home for a
healthy mind. He asserted, 'What is good for our heart, is good for the brain'. b) Stay socially engaged. It is great to be
part of a larger system. c) Keep learning. As we learn more, our body
create new synapses and increase the links in our neural network. d) The food we chose makes all the difference.
Along with the body, our mind is also nourished when we include more
fruits, vegetables, nuts, and legumes in our diet. e) Sound sleep. A good sleep
impacts every aspect of a quality life, from health to efficiency.
Teachers at Nitte International School, a reputed CBSE School in North Bangalore, are trained in
different areas of managing minds as a part of Faculty Development Programs. As
educators, we have a major role in shaping up the mental health of the society.
The whole process of teaching, learning, empowering, and leading is all about
how well we can influence others' mind.
Students of Nitte International School are taught basic lessons of forming right attitude and
discipline. Sessions are conducted to give an overview of mental health and
stress management skills. Indeed, our younger generation need a clear roadmap
to understand their mind potential, face the challenges of life and excel.
